Steelhead Guide, Fly Fishing Techniques and Strategies for Lake Erie Steelhead, 4th edition, by John Nagy
Mark has 5 hot patterns published in the book, with his Blue Steel Caddis being honored in Nagy's NEW Dirty Dozen.

(from John Nagy's website)
John Nagy's Steelhead Guide has long been considered the bible for steelheaders "chasing" chrome on Lake Erie's tributary streams as well as very useful to steelhead fisherman in other areas of the Great Lakes.
Expanded from 257 to 320 pages (including color insert), a major addition to the new 4th edition is 119 new and innovative steelhead fly patterns (replacing all previous 3rd edition patterns) contributed by guides, fly tyers and steelhead fly fisherman from all over the Lake Erie region. In addition to steelhead egg patterns, nymphs, soft hackles, streamers, woolly buggers, sculpins, leeches and Spey flies, 28 hot tube flies (both conventional and Scandinavian tube designs) are also included.
It also includes a new Deadly Dozen list, additional Steelheader's Tips and a humorous "Steelheader's Quiz". An exciting new and detailed chapter on tube flies for Great Lakes steelhead discussing their history, benefits, construction and use has been added as well as tube tying materials sources, updated steelhead equipment recommendations and the latest Lake Erie region fishery news.
It also includes updated guide, tackle shop, lodging and dining lists, steelhead related web sites as well as current smolt stocking lists and recent fishery data and reports. New photos have been added to Steelhead Guide including an expanded color insert section of the new steelhead fly patterns as well as steelhead photography taken in the Lake Erie region. Some of the previous 3rd edition text (carried over into the new 4th edition) has also been revised and/or clarified as well.

Trout Stream Insects: An Orvis Streamside Guide by Dick Pobst
For 14 years starting with my beginning days of fly fishing, I struggled and wrestled with the entomology aspect of the sport. As many anglers can attest to it can sometimes be difficult to find a mentor for the sport of fly fishing that is knowledgable about the various hatches; that was my situation as a youth. First of all no one ever told me there was a difference between western and eastern hatches, but they were both called by the same common names..."what's up with that?" I purchased countless pattern books and found many flies with the same name, but with completely different colors, which was even more confusing. Now I'm not talking about the attractor or generic patterns, I was searching for the major hatches as a starting point. Then in 1990 Dick Pobst came out with the Streamside Guide and I bought it and opened up the door to Hatch Utopia.
I highly recommend this book for any angler to carry streamside to identify the insect life of your favorite waters. Turn over rocks or catch the winged adults, collect specimens and preserve them in alcohol, take notes of time of day and date, and the stream conditions of when the specimen was caught...fast or slow water, sediment or gravel bottom. Each of these will play an important role in learning to identify and ultimately match the hatch!
